Painting with different mediums can be great fun but also a great challenge. Here are some general tips on how to paint with the following mediums; acrylic, oil, and watercolor.
Acrylic paints dry quickly which means you can save paint by investing in a squirt bottle with which you can spray your paint every now and then to help keep the paint wet and workable. Unlike watercolor paint, once acrylic paint dries it is not useable any more.
Oil painting involves painting in layers and allowing one layer to dry before adding another one. This is done because the lower layers of oil absorb the oil from the top layers and if the top ones dry faster than the lower layers then the painting can become dry and then crack.
A good solvent to use when painting with oil is alcohol.
Watercolors blend very easily which means it is important to be very careful with the amount of water that is used. The colors will bleed into each other if too much water is used.
