Make your own wall décor in just a few simple steps with Porter’s Craft & Frame. Create a stylish, contemporary look; or a trendy, modern look; or maybe even an old-style, vintage look. You can create the feel you want by decorating your walls with purpose.
Knowing your color scheme, theme, and or story you want to portray before getting started on your décor is a great idea, because that decision will affect the colors you use, the style you want, and the amount of work you will have to put in.
Here are some color scheme and theme ideas, just to get you started:
- Black and White (Classic, Elegant)
- Brown, Tan, and other Neutral Colors (Vintage, Old Portrait, Country)
- Old West
- Pink, Purple, Blue, Yellow (Hip, Trendy, Bright)
Once you have chosen your theme and or color scheme it is time to figure out what you are going to decorate your wall with.
At Porters, we love to see you create your own homemade masterpieces so we have just a few simple suggestions and tips to help get your creative juices flowing:
First, you can start with some simple wooden black and white frames.
You can leave the frames like this if you are aiming for a more classic and elegant theme for the room.
Or you may decide you want a trendy and colorful theme, in which case you will need to paint the frames in the colors you desire.
Make your wall décor really interesting and unique by adding some string across the backs of the frames and using clothespins to clip pictures, postcards, and other papers you want to show off on the inside of the frames.
You can also add cast iron handles, hooks, and knobs to your wall décor; depending on the look you wish to convey.
For wall décor finishing touches you can add: decorated Papier Mache letters to the inside or outside of your frames, bows and ribbons, and already made pieces from Porters.
